The USEA Young Rider Mentorship Program affords Young Riders (21 years and younger) the opportunity to learn from experienced equine professionals to gain a better understanding of career paths, skill development, networking and goal setting for his/her future.
The YR Mentorship Program operates concurrently at North American Youth Championships. It is not a riding program rather a way for youth to learn about what is involved in a career as a licensed official, competition manager and other horse related occupations.
Mentoring is a way for more experienced equine professionals to share their experiences and knowledge with Young Rider "proteges."
Young Riders chosen for participation in the Program are partnered with International Officials and others to learn the non-competitive side of the sport.
The Program is intended for older, focused Young Riders.
The mentoring partnership requires maturity, honesty, openness, commitment and effort. A successful mentoring partnership benefits those involved through increased confidence and a sense of direction.
