Cedar Ridge Farm
Cedar Ridge Farm located in Athens, GA is a boarding and training facility owned by Dr. Tom and Carolyn Cadier. The Cadiers are long-time members of Shakerag Hounds and have developed the farm for training in the classic disciplines. Eventing is a primary focus as well as dressage. The Cadiers owned 4-star horse Esker Riada and had Werner Geven as their rider who took Esker to his first 4-star and then the 2006 World Equestrian Games on the Dutch team.Werner is one of many advanced event riders and trainers that frequently teach at Cedar Ridge. Lucinda Green has been giving clinics for the past nearly 10 years and more recently the farm hosted Phillip Dutton, Boyd Martin, and on a more regular basis Silva Martin. Julie Richards frequently brings students and helps the Cadiers with their horses. Rebecca Howard is another professional that has not only given clinics and lessons at the farm but has trained the staff in horsemanship and handling skills. A number of other local eventing professionals and dressage professionals teach at the farm.Cedar Ridge is organized with a large XC training area with 46 different obstacles including a water complex, ditch, banks and terraces. Most recently the dressage arena has undergone and extensive upgrade and now features GGT fiber in a hybrid footing mix of Permaflex rubber and high grade washed granite sand. It has superior ability and consistency with great moisture capacity. The addition of arena mirrors has enhanced the capacity for quality dressage training. The upgrade of footing permits safe show jumping in the arena, however there is another large grass area being developed for strictly show jumping. It has the best footing on the property, has excellent shade from large hardwoods and will be open sometime mid-summer.The facility is available daily for XC schooling and use of the dressage arena. Details are on the farm website. The website will also have updates on future clinics and additions to the XC field.
